Racial Justice Work in the Community

One of the major struggles that we at St. Philip’s have felt called to address is the ongoing racism problem affecting people of color.  We confess that for years, we did not hear those voices as we should have.  But in the wake of many of the events that have taken place across our nation in recent years, our hearts have recalled much of what we have been taught as people of Christian faith.  Namely, that we are called to love one another as we have been loved by Christ.  That each of us is made uniquely in the image of God.  And because of that each of us is given value and cherished by God.  We could not stand by and be silent anymore as those realities became clear to us.

The work of Antiracism is led by our Antiracism task force which meets monthly to plan events as disciples of Jesus Christ, which promote racial justice through education, empathy/understanding, and empowering action in the world.

This page is intended to serve as a resource to help us deepen our anti-racism work. If you haven’t engaged in anti-racism work in the past, you can start now! Feel free to circulate this page on social media and with your friends, family, and colleagues. If you’d like to join the anti-racism taskforce, talk to Aniela Meinhaldt or the Church Office.

Also, we invite you to click on the links below which feature many of the resources that we have compiled to help further the work of Antiracism. From time to time there will also be links to special events, speakers, classes, etc. of which you may want to be a part to learn, grow, and be challenged.
