CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Learning has long been a vital part of the Lutheran church. We try to continue what Luther started way back in the day, equipping people to study the word of God and practice and teach their faith in their own homes, around their own kitchen tables!

We have Christian Education for all ages, Sunday mornings and other adult groups throughout the week. From age 0-119, we have a place for you! For the youngest people among us, we use a curriculum published by Augsburg Fortress.

Spark is a Bible-centered curriculum built on traditional Christian values, and a faith formation program that gets children excited about God's Word. Spark lessons bring to life stories from the Old and New Testament through games, art, music, and science, to accommodate all the different ways kids learn.

We are piloting a new program at St. Philip's this year. We are beginning a "Rotation" or "Station" model of educating our young people.

We will gather at 9:15 in the Sanctuary for a brief opening program and then divide into our groups. There will be different things to learn each Sunday about how these bible stories impact our lives, from cooking rotations, to science, and games. Our first rotation will focus on Daniel and the Lions, and begin on September 11, 2011 with Rally Day.

Rally Day is a time for the whole church to gather together around word, food, and fellowship and celebrate the beginning of a new educational year! Rally Day 2012 will be held on September 9th.

For those that are hearing impaired, St. Philips has listening devices.
These devices are stored in a rack above the guest register in the narthex. It would be greatly appreciated if they are turned off after each usage.
